Stain Removal Guide

Always be aware that no guarantee can be given for complete stain removal

Removing Stains from Carpet like

Butter, Ketchup, Chocolate, Dirt, Fruit Juice, Grass and most water base stains

Note: Always pre-test all cleaning solutions in a inconspicuous spot and let dry for 24 hour. After the 24 hours pre-test a small section of the stain with the stain remover and check for any adverse reaction or color change before proceeding with the treatment.  It is always a good idea to make or test your cleaning product before you need it (so the  24 hour test is already done).
All spills and stains should be treated as quickly as possible to help prevent permanent staining. The longer a spot or stain remains on the carpet or fabric, the more difficult it will be to remove.

Steps for removing stains:

  1. Scoop up and blot as much of the spill as possible. Vacuum up any dry particles.
  2. Prepare suggested cleaning solutions below, beginning with the first one listed.
  3. Pretest the cleaning solution on an inconspicuous spot of carpet to ensure it does not discolor or damage the carpet.
  4. Apply the cleaning solution to the stain area. Work from the outside of the stain toward the center.
  5. Allow the cleaning solution to remain on the spill for at least five minutes.
  6. Blot with a clean white cloth until no more stain transfers to the cloth. Do not rub the stain area or you might damage the carpet fibers.
  7. Rinse with cold water. Be sure all cleaning solution is removed from carpet.
  8. If you can still see the stain, repeat the process until either the stain is removed or the stain no longer transfers to the cloth.
  9. If the stain remains, try the next solution on the list and follow the same protocol above. If the stain persists after trying each solution listed, contact a professional cleaner.

NOTE The final step is always to rinse the area with water.  Then absorb all the remaining moisture with absorbent towels. Be patient. Some spots and stains respond slowly. All spots and stains cannot be removed from every fibre and fabric due to differences in fibers  dyes, construction, finishes, composition of the spills, length of time the spot has remained on the article and many other factors.
